TransMedics' Organ Care System is a unique investigational organ maintenance, assessment, resuscitation and transport system that has been designed to increase the utilization of existing consented organs and potentially improve the health of these organs for transplant. By maintaining the organs in a functioning state, the Organ Care System may enable unique ex vivo donor organ assessment and treatment. The Organ Care System may provide clinicians new opportunities to assess and potentially optimize the organ's function prior to transplant. The Organ Care System may also lengthen the time that an organ can remain outside the body, allowing it to reach more recipients, improving efficiency, and decreasing costs.

The Organ Care System has undergone years of extensive testing in consultation with some of the world's leading transplant surgeons. Multi-center studies are being initiated and conducted to demonstrate the safety and performance of the Organ Care System as well as to ensure its fit within the existing transport and logistics models of each region.
